Richard Widerkehr was born in New York City and received his B.A. from the University of Michigan, where he won two Hopwood Awards for Poetry. He received his M.A. from Columbia University. His poems and stories have appeared in numerous literary magazines, and have won prizes from the Pacific Northwest Writers Conference and the Leslie Hunt Award at Western Washington University. His poetry collection, Disappearances, was published by Radiolarian press in 1996.
Richard has lived in Bellingham, Washington, since 1978, working as a counselor and case manager at mental health clinics.
